The Sea Captains

Consolidate surface, restore paintwork and revarnish.

This oil painting had been left in a dirty, damp environment, causing the paint to cup and flake, rendering it virtually unrecognisable. The painting was first relined to consolidate the surface, then retouched to bring it back to its original splendour, before revarnishing. The photographs show how even severely damaged paintings can be brought back to life. The client was amazed at the result!
